Banister Marine started from very humble beginnings in South Western Sydney when in 1977 Graham & Sandra Banister opened a Boat Building & Repair business operating from the rear of their house. Graham had been working in the boating industry since leaving school, firstly with John Longhurst at Pride Boats in Lansvale and then moving to Sidewinder Marine at Croydon to produce metal flake ski boats. Over those early years Graham saw a lot of changes in boat designs and fibreglass technology. Graham went on to build and race a very successful race boat as well as many ski boats for the social market.

Banister Marine grew and became one of the leading repairers for the major insurance companies in the Sydney region necessitating in a move to bigger premises at Seton Road, Moorebank and then again to bigger and better premises at Junction Road, Moorebank. Kane Banister joined the family business in 1996 and completed his formal studies in the Boat Building and Shipwright Trade at Meadowbank Technical College. In 2001, Banister Marine moved north to Warners Bay at Lake Macquarie where we now have a large, modern factory where we carry out quality work with Kane Banister now at the helm and still expanding to cover other areas of this ever changing industry.

Banister Marine’s results speak for themselves. We have built Australian Title holding boats, prize winning race cars and show cars competed in build-a-boat competition both in Australia and abroad. We have currently built boats that have won Bridge to Bridges and travel at speeds in excess of 130mph.

When it comes to quality and standing by our workmanship, Banister Marine purchases only quality materials and only employs qualified trades people. We work in conjunction with technicians, engineers and chemists that are the best in their field. With this combination we maintain the highest standard. Banister Marine is always striving to remain at the forefront of composite repair and service to our customers is our primary focus.
